It's a cool October Sunday, one of those rare days where the crisp breeze and warmish air make you itch to get outside and rake a pile of leaves for the sheer pleasure of jumping in and sending your work flying in four directions. There's a Beef Daube Provencal simmering in my oven and an empty bag of trail mix with a few sips of merlot sitting on the desk in front of me. Just now, three sets of feet stomp in the back door making noises of approval over the garlic, thyme, rosemary, and clove wafting through the house, and I confess that life is good. A sermon this morning reminded me that though we live our lives so much in the now, in the moment, and though we ride the waves of all that hinders and burdens and weighs right now, we are, in fact, made for so much more. Made for the glory of a Father who delights in us always, who loves us as we are and where we are. And I grab Mark's hand in church, quiet and still and moved. Life is a mixed bag of crazy these days, but we count the gifts (as A.V. reminds us) and we taste and see all that is good. A short post today. There are four small bodies waiting for a ramble in the leaves. Happy Sunday!
